Here’s what our members have been up to lately.
- Starting a physics collaborative calculation club, affectionately known as Shut Up and Calculate. We meet in 8-329 at MIT every Friday to hack on some interesting calculations requiring only undergrad-level Classical Mechanics, Quantum Mechanics, Statistical Mechanics, and E&M. Meeting notes and previous calculations are documented at http://v.xvm.mit.edu.
- Arranging meet-ups with local open science advocates through the Open Knowledge Foundation email lists.
- Making the notorious Junior Lab experimental physics course at MIT more tractable by documenting experiments collaboratively in a wiki.
- Organizing an open science colloquium with Michael Nielsen at MIT on Sept. 22, 2011.
